sound and direction

Guys, I need help fast! Im trying to find my father both a sound system and a gps system for his bike. My siblings and mother are all chipping in. I don't have time to go reading through previous posts right now so here are my questions:

1. What should I look for in a sound system?? Keeping in mind price is an issue.

2. What about GPS systems- brand, mapping vs. non-mapping etc.

Thank you for your input we will all appreciate it.

p.s. Im even posting in my M50 forum as well!

In the time it took you to post your question in two different forums you could've learned quite a bit about GPS units in the GPS forum. Why would you expect anyone to re-write it all here for you?

Jeez guys give this member some help. The search feature is vague at best. I'll bet there are several guys who could help out. I wish I knew this subject, I sure would.

First off, thank you guys for responding. Any more info would be great.

Second,

"Yeah, we don't allow multiple-posting. It's just not nice. Mmm-kay."

I really don't understand what is "not nice" about it??? If someone chooses to read a thread and respond to it why is it anyone elses problem?

Third,

To answer your questions: It didn't take me long at all- there is this feature you can do to copy and then paste previously written posts. As I said I was in a hurry so I thought I'd post the question and when I got home read the responses. I would expect it because not all people really care that much about typing a few words.

Time to start using milk in your cereal.

Not sure about sound system, but I bought a magellan roadmate 2200t refurbished last year (on-line) with a 3 year warranty for about $120. It is waterproof unlike many unless you want to spend the big bucks ($500+), works 8-9 hours on a charge, yes forget wiring, and it connected to a ram mount in the middle of my handlebars. Has worked perfectly on a 4000 mile trip, batteries were charged at night in the motels and unit is easy on/off with no wires to contend with. A+ rating for me, my wallet, and my gps needs.

No respectable forum tolerates multi-posting. It breaks up the information and forces people to track and respond to several threads.

Again, you're missing the point. The value of an active forum lies in the information that's already available, not getting your redundant questions answered in your own little thread. Try thinking about this in a less selfish way and you'll get it.

Maybe this will clear things up a bit. :-)

Yes multi-posting and the cut and paste thing is annoying, but give this guy a break. I think it is equally annoying in seeing someones credentials in the text of their answers pop up with every answer. Frankly, Ive done many 1000 mile trips in 24 hours, but don't need to prove it or show it off to anyone with every answer. An open forum like this is built on many opinions which we all learn from, but no one's opinion or credentials are anything more than that, an opinion. Sorry Purplefern you got the rath of someone that has too much time on their hands and possibly too many miles on their seat. Your questions may indeed be better directed in another forum, but there are nicer ways of handling it than was done to you, I hope you get straight answers to your questions.

They're not "credentials", they're a little about me. If you'd rather interact in a sterile, anonymous environment, be my guest. It so happens that many people are interested in those topics, even if you aren't. The images are links to various destinations on the web of interest to riders of various types.

Are those "credentials" under your username?

Oh, and that "too much time on my hands" is a big part of what built this forum, and the "rath" [sic] is an attempt to keep it useful and organized. There are plenty of free-for-all junk sites around. You're welcome to them.

If someone wants to know more about me or you they can click on our names for further info and appropriate links. This cut and paste works both ways and I do not put my credentials in the TEXT of a answer. This would violate the entire premise of this discussion since Purplefern was originally accused of posting in the wrong forum.
Your credentials may indeed be of interest to some, of which they can click on your name for more information, but to place them in the text of every answer looks like the only free-for-all is in your response to me and Purplefern. Too much time relates in the manner that Purplefern was responded to and not the message you gave him, there are polite ways to direct people to the proper forum, and this was not the case.

Regardless of what "this" is, I find that hard to believe !!

And yet another perfectly good thread has run off into the ditch. :madd:
(Although this one had a "head wobble" from the beginning.)

I'm ready for Indian Summer so we can all go for a ride; maybe that would help! :bluethum:

I've bought a gps navigator (Garmin) and the sound can wait- this thread was a waste. I will now go and SEARCH for info on it. Tbone- thank you and I agree, manners and politeness are things all Mommies should teach their kids no matter how old. To all others who are upset, sorry for wasting your time... although your still reading.

Which Garmin did you buy? I recently bought the 550 but with 10" of the fluffy white stuff on the ground I don't think I will be able to use it for a few months.

This thread was not a waste IMO. You are fairly new and apparently have not been introduced to Clint yet. I will run over to his house today and throw a snow ball at him. That shoud even things up.
