So i think i'm due for my period this week, and in the past i have noticed that right before my period i get (SORRY GROSS) kinda gassy/constipated and have bowel trouble in general...
and today I'm having really bad bowel problems. LIke, sorta like diahrrea but not exactly. I took pepto bismal but it's not helped much... I still have cramp-like feelings but i don't know whether they're cramps or problems with my bowels/stomach!!!

What I want to know is, does anyone else ever have this problem? Women only of course.
And two, what should I do? I came home from school but I don't want to go back until I'm srue the whole semi-diarreah sitauation has gone away.

THANKS!!!!!

It's normal. Take some Imodium, it should work after 1-2 doses (follow the directions). Put some heat--either a warm towel, hot shower, or heating pad--on your tummy & just relax.

you should ask your mother all about this, or an aunt or look it up on the internet. You could also make a call to your doctor, just talk on the phone and ask.

I have had this same problem for years. Take the pepto, that will help some. Typically for me it lasts maybe a day, day and half and then my period starts. I know you feel like crap, but there's really nothing much to do about it other than get through it, and make sure that you are close to a bathroom.

Hang in there.

no its totally normal :) when your period is due, you normally get stomach contractions(thats the cramps) pushing the blood out and this of course makes your stomach work because of the tightening of the stomach..
try Nurofen tablets for when you are due, i use them and they really do work
xx

It's a hormone thing, many women experience it. Blame it on natural chemicals called prostaglandins, which are primarily responsible for the uterine contractions that help expel blood from your bod. Prostaglandins also trigger contractions in your bowels, resulting in diarrhea -- particularly during the first few days of your flow. To stop the runs, pop an anti-inflammatory painkiller, like ibuprofen. These over-the-counter drugs reduce prostaglandin production, so you'll still have a regular period yet won't have to hightail it to the toilet as often.

i've never heard of that before but theres a lot of women out there lol...make an appointment with your obgyn or just call them over the phone and ask them. they'll be able to give you and answer over the phone.
