I forgot to mention that so far i do not have sciatica, which is a miracle. Would they still do surgery for pain only, or will surgery only help people with sciatica?
Thanks.

Hi,

You really are freaked out by this, aren't you? Try to get some good factual information and don't let your imagination run wild!!::eek: Try researching on the Mayo Clinic website for a start.

Now I have a question for you: what kind of pain do you have if you don't have pain in your leg?:confused:

The pain I have is in my lower back and in my right hip. I have some small amount of pain in my left butt, when I lie down or sit, but I can live with that. Its the horrible back pain and hip pain. The back part makes it so I can hardly stand for any length of time and the hip and the back affect my walking (which is with a limp and I cannot go for too long). I realize I am lucky I am not in a wheelchair, at least, but its really bumming me out that I cant hardly walk in a mall. I live in Colorado. Forget walking even a staight, unelevated trail anymore. I wonder how often people get bad back pain without the sciatica?

It still sounRAB like it could be a bit of sciatica - it's just not radiating all the way down the length of the sciatic nerve.

It also sounRAB like it could be your SI joint or your Piriformis muscle. I have both and it is at the side of my lower back and radiates around my hips. I also have feet pains, mainly on the top of my feet. It is worse, the longer I sit and it is impossible to stand in one spot.

You can search both problems and you will find a lot of information about each one. If this is what you have, both are often helped with injections and or P/t, as well as a Ten's unit and ice or heat.
