i have a white pus looking sack in the back of my throat which goes down my neck leaving a lump and me with a very sore throat ... just on one side... what would it be from, how do i make it go away?

Rea1299: I would go get a throat culture and get checked for strep throat. You'll need antibiotics to get rid of it. It's cold season with the seasons changing and I've heard alot of people saying they're not feeling well and running fevers. Do you have a fever?
If you do then it's definitely worth getting the culture. I had a severe case of strep throat when I was a teenager (many years ago) and was in bed for 3 weeks. Take Care.

i have went to the ER... the doctor didn't feel doing a culture was necessary. I have had strep a couple times and my children has also gotten strep (just mention it and my youngest gets it) this does not look anything or feel anything like strep. Its a lump I feel actually on my neck that scares me and is very tender to the touch. all day yesterday the lump even felt like it had a fever. the puss pocket in my throat is hard to see and looks white and black. i don't understand whats it is and well the doctors in my area are only good for the expensive bandaids.

got meds been taking them... they have not been helping and its just getting worse and now spreading slowly to my sinuses...and now its even harder for me to swallow... yea i like the idea i might loose a pound or two but the pain is killing me and the stress of knowing ITS NOT STREP is annoying

Rea1299: the care you're getting is not acceptable!!! Make a fuss. It's your body, your throat, not theirs. It could be a swollen lymph node - who knows. It's allergy season too. The next recommendation is to see an ear, nose and throat doctor to get to the bottom of it. Don't let it fester!
