For the past 6 weeks I have had a sore throat on and off (mostly on). I've only had a couple in my life and they were both Strep. This one is definitely different and seems to move around in my throat. At first it felt like it was right below my tongue and it first thought it was related to yawning. ( I was supper tired one evening and felt like a yawned a dozen times and they were all very big yawns)...Now it's moved into my lower throat (below my adams apple) and feels like it's swollen in there. I obviously can't see it, but my upper throat looks red as well. 2 weeks ago i thought it was going away..I had a few days where it didn't hurt at all..Then it came back again...This is happen a few times, so I thought I should go to the doctor...I've had allergies my whole life and always have some sort of mucus dripping down my throat and it's never caused a sore throat before, but this is what the doc thinks is going on...he told me to keep taking my allergy decongestant and also take Aleve (2 time a day for 14 days) for pain and as an anti-inflammatory. I'm about 9 days into the treatment and Yesterday I actually thought everything was going away...I woke up feeling good and barely had a sore throat all day...Then after dinner in the evening, it came back again and now again my lower throat feels inflamed and swollen...
What's really weird is my throat never really hurts to eat or drink anything..It mostly hurts the first time I swallow after not swallowing for a long time...Then if I swallow a few times after that, it doesn't really hurt.
I guess the next step is to go see an ENT and have them scope it...I've got GERD and just had a EGD about 4 months ago, it said everything looks good...Except I have some sort of Food allergy that's causing rings in my esophagus and minor irritation.
Not looking forward to this scope...The EGD is no biggy because your out!!
Anyway, anyone have any ideas!
