Sore arm

About 2 months ago, I was staying at a friend's place and slept on an inflatable mattress placed on the floor. The mattress was several inches high and when the alarm, which was on the floor, went off, I reached over to turn it off. I did this for a couple of days. Everytime I shut off the alarm, it stretched my arm muscle and hurt and I probably pulled something. (I was sleeping on the right side of the bed and used my right arm to turn the alarm off; so my right arm reached over the side of the bed sometimes without turning to face my hand to the ground and other times rotating to get the alarm.) Since then, the inside of my arm including the shoulder hurts a lot. The other day as I was coming around a corner quickly I accidently bumped a corner wall and it hurt so much. It hurts so much that I can't fully extend my arm straight up and can't reach the other armpit while showering. It hurts if I try to reach around to scratch my back. And when I'm sleeping, I have to adjust my body so that my arm isn't sore. I have been avoiding use of my arm thinking that it would be best to let it heal. But I'm wondering if instead of this I should be trying to stretch it because the muscle needs to be slowly exercised and rehabilitated to avoid long term atrophy. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? Should I see a doctor? If so, what kind of doctor? I was thinking of seeing my PCP. Thanks.

I've been trying some arm circle exercises because it seems like the muscle is getting stiff from not using it. I am wondering if it bursitis.... Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
