Soooo Lost!!!! Iphone Vs Android Vs Blackberry Vs Two Tin Cans and a Piece of String

So I have read forum after forum, article after article, talked to god knows how many ppl and im not any closer. Seriously considering the tin cans.

So this is what I need from a phone. Please help me make a wise choice.

First most important is a good calender and task list
- Best calender ever was the colour coded one by palm, that years later no one has stolen yet. (god i miss that calender). Want it easy to read at a quick glance
-As for tasklist i would forget my own name if my phone did go *beep beep* "your name is...." So i like setting reminders throughout the day saying, ps u have to do this, or dont forget to do that..... then i can quickly look at the tasks either do them or dismiss them for 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hr, or when im really lazy ill dismiss it til tomorrow.... (for future jallenvii to worry about). It would be awesome to get a phone to give me the list that i can look at anytime that i can catoregorize and sub catoregorize into date due then subcats like "personal" "honeydo" "business" "urgent"...

Second is a good email server
- I dont want a gmail account, i have a perfectly good MSN.ca account that I have had for years. Not in any hurry to change it. Since claiming my name to it, like 10 years ago, I have seen numberous phone OSs come and go, and will probably seen tons more in the next 10 years so dont plan on changing my email everytime the next hot OS comes out.

Third is a good browser
-Dont need a browser much however, when with a client it is handy to have, be able to access mutual fund companys websites, and all our new client tools will be web based very soon.
-Some web based apps like TD banking would be nice, yet dont really care about much of the other apps, i dont want a PSP, so why would i want my phone to be one. (Can understand why others might, the games are kinda neat)

Forth is tied in with One and Two, Syncing
- like the idea of insta sync with the online calender and email. Currently i sync my MS outlook with my phone 2 or 3 times a day Vs Insta sync over the network. I know u can do it flawlessly with Gmail, but the whole dont want a gmail account cause my MS Live account (msn.ca) works just fine.

Last but not least Multi tasking
-I love doing msn on my phone, while taking a phone call, while txt msging, while checking my emails, while online with the internet..... u get the idea. nothing worst then having to exit out of msn cause a phone call is coming in. Or writing an email that u have to get out of because someone just txted u and u need to read it. Or finally finding the page u wanted online but having to exit out of the brower because u get an email or txt or phone call or need to check ur calender or ......

so please help me cause im soo lost.... miss the days when I was totally up on all techonology :P

Thanks in advance,
JAllenVII

PS please dont just say "(insert OS) is better!!" without a reason why.

Used to be in Hotmail for years. Now I'm in GMail. Its just better. The advantage of GMail and Google Calendar is that it easily wirelessly syncs to Android, iPhone, Symbian, Blackberry.

^^^... ok?

To the OP... I am in the same boat as you in many regards as my wish list is very similar to yours and I am coming off a Palm Treo 680 (see my post a few down from yours: G2 vs BB 9700 vs MT3GS, etc.)

Given that I will put in my two cents and see if it helps a little...

The iPhone side I cannot really comment on as I dont have it as an option on Tmo however everyone I know that has it will admit that the phone side sucks but the apps and the features are what make it. To me a phone is a phone then whatever else so it never really stuck with me.

The Blackberry does a lot of what you want, it is after-all designed for business so email with sync and calendars, etc it will excel at... where they fall short is the playful side of life but my understanding is that even this is getting better. The other knock against them has been their browser options but again, with BB 6.0 coming out on the Torch and apparently soon to come on the other models in the form of an update this is said to be improved as well.

Android based phones have hit the market hard and strong. I havent met anyone with an Android who isnt happy with it. Solid web browsing, solid text, good sync, tons of toys, etc. However, my wife still carries around a day planner with her because she hates the calendar on her Android device... now this could be her and Im sure it is a personal thing but my other buddy who is running a Droid does the same thing (though now that I write this I realize I have never asked him if it is because the app sucks or it is his choice).

In reading your original post I didnt see mention to an SP... are you locked in anywhere or are you pretty much free to go wherever you want?

As I mentioned above, take a read through my thread and see if other things on my list are on yours as the phones I am considering now are:

(since I am locked to Tmobile):
Blackberry Bold 9700
Tmobile G2
Tmobile My Touch 3G Slide (though I am almost crossing this off the list)

Others I would consider if I wasnt locked in:
Any Droid - Verizon
Blackberry Torch 9800 - AT&T (this checks all my boxes)

Hope this helps a little?

Here is my take. Your requirements could not be met by a single phone.

If I suggest WP7, you have a multitasking requirement that would not meet it.

Android or iPhone would meet what you need, except you need GMail to do it.

Blackberry would meet all your requirements except its browsing isn't that good, although you may like to put Opera Mini on it.

I'll try to give my impressions of Blackberry, Apple, Android, Windows 7 v what you are looking for in a neat list:

- Windows 7
- Blackberry/Apple
- Android

Gmail is better... but without:

- Blackberry
- Windows 7
- Apple/Android

- Apple
- Android
- Windows 7
- Blackberry (New Web Os 6 looks better, but the Torch is underpowered to run it... so...)

With a PC running Windows? Assuming MSN?

- Windows 7
- Blackberry
- Android/Apple

This one is tougher...

- Android
- Apple
- Blackberry/Windows 7

This is personal opinion on where I would rank the OS's higher. I know some things can be changed with Aps/Updates and RIM might actually have hardware coming to run their new browser better but for now this is where i'd rank them.
