So I bought this used car a few months back with a Sony Xplod CDX-CA760X car stereo in it. It worked great for a few weeks, but after awhile the radio stopped working. It would just go to static, occasionally coming in and out for about 5 seconds or so and just back to static. It has gotten worse since. After letting the car sit over night, the radio will work just fine. After driving for about 30 minutes or so, the radio begins to go out. Now, the radio works not even 5 minutes then its all static. It's hard to explain, you can hear multiple radio stations coming in and out, surrounded by static. This is as of late. And just the other day the buttons on the stereo were freezing, as in I couldn't switch between CD/Radio, or enter the menu. All buttons weren't working. This is when I was convinced that it was my stereo causing my radio to go out, not my antenna.
I took the radio out and looked at the connections, all connections were good. So I am posting to get a second opinion, see what others have to say.
I'm guessing now its the stereo itself which is why I have been having problems with the radio, and not the antenna. I'd like to know 100% before I spend money on a new stereo and only to find out it was the antenna or something.
