Sony Ericsson W600i vs Motorola L7 - Which one should I get?

I'm looking for a new phone to replace my v551 (which I've already sold). I'm looking at the Sony Ericsson W600i and the Motorola L7. I found v551 slow in terms of scrolling thru the menu and running appplication, but I've never used a Sony Ericsson phone before. Aesthetically, the L7 is much more appealling, but I hear the W600i is way better with the features and UI. I'm signing up for rogers on a 2 yr contract so I can get the L7 for $250 or the W600i for $200.

So how the 2 phones compare? I heard that the W600i's crash for no reason sometimes. And how is the swivel on the W600i? Is it solid, or does it feel flimsy?

I like the L7, but if the W600i is a better phone with all its features and has a better UI then Motorola, I'd rather get that.

Or maybe you could recommend me a better phone under $300?
 
I've never had a SLVR but I borrowed a RAZR a while back and if their UI's are the same then the W600 definately wins. I had the W600 for a little over a month and can't remember any problems. Never shut off randomly or had a WSOD (I think those 2 were related to Cingular's firmware). Swivel is solid. W600 is pretty thick though, especially comapred to the SLVR. SLVR is great because there's lots of modding that can be done, the form factor is obvious, and it's got a TF slot whereas the W600 is built in at 256mb. SLVR is definately a looker, can be easily modded to add a bunch of different things, has a TF slot giving you more room for videos, pictures, and music, and from what I heard is built like a rock! W600 has a unique design which is still nice looking, swivel is solid, better MP3 player IMO (Walkman branded .vs. Itunes which takes a long time to load songs), UI is much more pleasent, and has fantastic RF! I'm getting a new phone tomorrow and I'd probably pick up the SLVR right now only because I had the W600 and I to try something new; however, i expect the W600 to be better. Hell, I might go with the 6682 instead of all of them ! Anyway, good luck!
 
Any opinions on this I am in the same exact position.

Want to step up from a V551 to one of these phones.

So far the w600i is the leader in the clubhouse because I can get it for about $120 if I sell my soul Cingular for 2 more years, meanwhile the SLVR I would buy an unlocked one off ebay for around $250 instead of $200+ from Cingular w/2 year contract.

I like the good things I hear about the MP3 player and superior RF of the w600i and being $130 cheaper doesn't hurt although being indentured to Cingular for 2 more years would suck. And I like the formfactor and expandable memory of the L7, plus not being in a contract is appealing to me.

Looking to make the decison by this Friday, any input from you folks would rock.
