My son age 7 is attending his first football camp in two weeks, now they supplied me with a whole list of supplies . Most of them are obvious but really I am battling with the decision between Athletic supporter ( with cup) or Girdles. I bought him football pants that already have the pads in ( the pads are sewn in) so I need to know if it is still necessary to get him the Girdle with pads as well as the Athletic supporter? Or can I just get the Athletic supporter ? I am a mom and have no experience with football!!
Yes, It is an "OD- football camp" , only shoulder pads and Helmet supplied. I have to buy everything else. So If the pants have pads already, I don't need a girdle right? So just "athletic supporter and cup"?

I played football for 7 years all through high school and everything. Nobody really wears a cup. You should get him some compression shorts/jock strap for support but thats probly all you need. And hes probly fine with the pads that are sewn in the pants, he doesnt need a padded girdle. I mean this is football, its supposed to be a tuff sport.

did they tell you to buy football pants?

when i played the team provided them and the girdle has pockets that hold the hip pads on both sides and a butt pad to protect the tailbone. we were required to wear both the girdle and pads and the athletic supporter and cup.

you really dont want to take unnessecary chances with your little guy's family jewels. if you want to have grand kids some day get him a cup. i played ball with a kid who got hit in the groin with a baseball got his testicle bruised in a way it had to be removed

it is one of those things 99 times out of 100 the cup is unnessecary but the 1 time you needed it is more important than all the 99 times it wasnt.

If the pants you purchased have hips pads sewn in, (as well as the thigh pads and knee pads), then you should not need the girdle. I would think that the camp supplied you with either a phone number or e-mail address where you can get more definite answers to your questions. Good luck and Peace be with You.

If you're nervous, buy him a cup. I played for three years and never got there. It's kinda hard. But a girdle is to hold pads. If the pads are already sewn in, there's no need.
