Songs that tell Great Stories

I'm trying to prepare a list of songs that tell great narratives. I'm trying to come up with short story ideas.

I only have three so far:
Casimir Pulaski Day - Sufjan Stevens
Bobby Jean - Bruce Springsteen
A Postcard to Nina - Jens Lekman

Tell me what your most beloved, story driven songs are... please : )

The Mercy Seat - Nick Cave and the Bad SeeRAB

Just love it... Not just explaining a series of events, but tries to represent the inner chaos of a soon to be electrocuted man...

Billy Joel is a great storyteller songs like "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" "Ballad of Bily the Kid" and "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out On Broadway)" are all brilliant stories. Dylan is a great storyteller as well obviously.

Most Fairport Convention songs are brilliant stories, and not to forget Concept Albums that have a coherent plot. Like Mountain Ash Band with "The Hermit"

I can certainly dig the Randian underpinnings of a lot of Rush songs (The Trees, Anthem, 2112) being a libertarian myself, though I do remeraber thinking The Trees was a very strange song the first time I heard it. The last section of lyrics clarifies what the whole allegory is about, but for most of the song I was like "wtf...".

As to the question the OP posed, I'd have to answer "Tribute" by Tenacious D. Funny and awesome story.

Hmn, songs that tell good stories eh...I guess a few come to mind pretty quick:

Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (whole album)
Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow (whole album)
The Flower Kings - A Vampire's View
Primus - Tommy the Cat
Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

Lily, Rosemary, & The Jack Of Hearts- Bob Dylan

1952 Vincent Black Lightning- Richard Thompson

The Venus Of The Soup Kitchen- Prefab Sprout

The Line- Bruce Springsteen (and as kthedrummer said, Highway Patrolman)

Tecumseh Valley- Townes Van Zandt
