Song you have to hear

How is his music mediocre? Perhaps you should back up your opinion. Coming Up Roses is a pretty terrible example of his work since lo-fi folk really only covers his first two albums and part of his third but calling it mediocre just shows you're pretty ignorant of that genre of music and wouldn't have liked it in the first place. Listen to this and tell me he's "mediocre at best." Elliott Smith is easily one of the most talented musicians of our era.

Much much better example of a talented artist. I liked this song a lot more than the first one. I will look into more of his music. But, after hearing this and liking it, doesn't mean that if I hadn't liked it, that I would be wrong. Everyone has their own taste in music, my stinkin' brother likes Bread for crying out loud. I think they are ( except for 2 or 3 songs) one of the worst groups I have ever heard.

Since you guys keep pushing Elliott Smith, I will keep pushing Tommy Bolin I guess. I am pretty sure he has a wider range of music than just about anyone out there.

It's OK if you don't like his music, I won't get upset. Like I said before, we all have our own tastes.

I think to say he's overrated on this site is fair but as both posters have pointed out he's not very known. I know four people who like him, two of who I got into him, the other is apart of a music forum and knows as much as I do and the other just knows alot. He's not very known.

Can anyone mention a song that you want others to hear.
This should be a great song that you think 90% of the people in the listening world haven't heard before.
My example is a song that I think anyone that hasn't heard it before, should download right away.
The man played lead guitar for Deep Purple, The James Gang, and Billy Cobham on the fantastic Spectrum album
This song is classic rock at it's best.
Unfortunatly, the man died at an early age in the 70's.
The song is

Exactly, there are different senses of being over/underrated. I've never met a person who has heard of Elliott Smith in real life... and that includes my indie frienRAB.
