Song Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jane's Addiction - 4
Faith No More - 2

Not because I necessarily like Faith No More any more than Jane's, just not enough going on in Up The Beach, always felt like a filler track to me.

This one is from their first album, which is probably my favorite, along with Jamahiriya. But Ceremonial and Customs are also brilliant, although different. I recommend all of these. But I don't think I have Trudge. That's an EP, right?

Anyway, I still can't decide which one I love more. Savage Republic has been one of my favorites for a long time, especially this album and this song. On the other hand I just recently started listening to Sun City Girls. The fact that I can't decide just shows how deeply Sun City Girls have affected me. When I heard Torch of the Mystics, it reminded me immediately of the similar ethno flavour that Savage Republic often has.

I don't think 'Up the Beach' is filler, I mean it's the first track on their debut album. I think it's just an attempt to be unique and really get the attention of its listener. Maybe it didn't work for everybody... :)

Electronic remixes of rock songs generally spell FAIL in my book. These are really no exception, except that I did enjoy the second half of the Pixies remix, the instrumental all-electronic part. I think that's how these types of remixes should be. Take the groove, but make it your own style. I hate the way it starts pretty much sounding just like the original and not a remix. I get that they were trying to make it seem like it was morphing, I just don't care for that or need it. Twist that shit up into whatever genre you're creating, leave out the vocals and guitars, just leave me a recognizable groove.

Same applies to the Nirvana remix...except I liked it less. Too many of the vocals remain. SounRAB like a shit remix/mashup I'd hear at some trendy douche club. We get it...there are cool scissor sound effects you can make in your dubstep. This track is gimmicky/cliche as all hell.

I preferred 'The Classical'. It was kinda funky and had a nice groove. The Chameleions had waaay too much synth and sounded too 80s-y.
