Song Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ABBA - 1
Ace of Base - 4

I actually enjoyed that Ace of Base tape on my trip to Europe in 1993/4 (I "borrowed" it from my sister). The song pops in my head frequently when I learn a life lesson. It's part of my generation. Perhaps this song excluded, but I found the production on this album pretty good at the time. Granted I hadn't paid much attention to too much electronic-based music yet at that point.

See Jackhammer?! I'm erabracing the music of my past! :D

Two songs battle it out in this spinoff of everybody's favorite thread, "Album Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"!

There are only two rules:

1) Each battle must include songs by different artists.
2) Listen to both songs before voting. Don't judge the song by the band name or genre, just listen to it and pick the one you like better!

PM me your nominations. The first matchup:

Battle 90s Indie:

'Dukes Up' by Modest Mouse - Sad Sappy Sucker (1994/2001)

Do we really have to choose between two of the most played songs ever? Led Zep and only because the drum parts are fairly decent. The Eagles are dad rock personified. Shocking.

LZ-2
Eagles - 1

Don't think I'd ever heard that Butthole Surfers song before. Didn't really care for it. And I love Mr. Bungle, especially the first album. This could be my least favorite track on the album, though. But it's still good and I like the "don't you fucking look at me" stuff and screaming, and other elements. It's certainly very enjoyable to me. The last few minutes are really fucking awesome actually, now that I am re-listening. FUck yes Bungle motherfuckers! I forgot those samples at the end were part of this track. I have loved some samples since my high school years, had that stuff memorised. The Japanese "excuse me, I am lost" stuff and the dialog between "Mr. Bungle" and the lady...classic stuff that is forever engrained in my mind.

Butthole Surfers - 0
Mr. Bungle - 2

I think rabV have many better songs than that one, although obviously it was quite something when they played it live and extended the noisy section in the middle to 20+ minutes... but Souvlaki Space Station is one of my favourite shoegaze songs. So yeah.

rabV 1
Slowdive 2

Both good songs, but not my favorites from both banRAB. It's hard for me to choose, but Love will tear us apart has a greater nostalgic value for me. So that one.

Joy Division 6
The Smiths 5
