I just bought new shoe laces for my Hikers, and they don't stay tied!!!!!

Sounds stupid, but in these amazing times we live in; full of technological advancements..........WTF!!!!

I mean come on Y cant they fabricate....no stop let me rephrase that. Why does ANY shoelace have to be made in such a way that it becomes un-tied in 5 minutes? There is no excuse for it. Even if you're a small shoelace manufacturer that can't afford an R&D department. Just give out a few pairs to employees.

Boss: "How did those shoe laces work out?"
Employee: "They came untied"
Boss: Ok, back to the drawing board.

All that aside, I know I've owned shoelaces that did not behave this way. Why can't they make all shoelaces out of that material? Do we really need to experiment? Is there really a need to redesign shoelaces? And if so Why must my feet be the Guinea pig?

Fuuuuuuuuck!!!!

I've got shoelaces that do that...it's those rounder ones that suck when u ride a bike and they come untied, then tangle in the crank then u get stuck and crash into the ramp

the ones I like are those flat ones, cause they just grip better or something, the round ones won't won't won't can't find the word,...stay together

put water on them, that'll keep it tight...just sux after dirtbiking through mud and now u can't get them untied

I tuck my laces into the sides of my shoes after I tie them. It looks nicer that way too (only if your wearing pants tho). And I havent untied them for like 10 months (just slip the shoes on and off). They came untied like a month ago. Nine months not having your shoelaces untied, priceless.

Really now...nobody here gives a fuck about your shoe laces....wtf is wrong with you dumbass?I mean really...you let shoelaces piss you off enough to turn on the pc....log on to wtf.com...then write a long ass story about it ? lemme just sum this up for you SHUT THE FUCK UP BITCH ! :mfinger:

maybe your new laces are covered in teflon?

give them a while for the shininess of the nylon to wear off and they should start gripping themselves better.

Thanks, These are all great Ideas and everyone's input is greatly appreciated. However, My point is that When I buy a pair of shoelaces, I expect them to stay tied. I shouldn't have to do any kind of field engineering to keep them tied. A shoelace that is designed in a manner that allows it to release it's grip and dangle uselessly, dragging on the floor; is failing to do the one and only thing it was designed for.

That's a piss poor reflection on our manufacturing processes, here in the US; and if we're not careful we can loose all the shoelace manufacturing to Taiwan. Their already one-up on us for having the name of their country start with the "tie" sound. Its subliminal, they did it on purpose. I believe that when Taiwan was first formed as a country, that's exactly what they had in mind. Sure they played a nice Shell game, making us think they were trying to take the consumer electronics market. But, you watch, It's only a matter of time before They become the a major player in world wide shoelace manufacturing. Then we'll be paying $6 a pair. WTF, They'll be able to charge whatever they want.

Don't let this happen. I'm calling on everyone here to contact the US department of Commerce, and your state legislators, in order to set up an embargo on Taiwanese made shoelaces.

If the laces are stretchy, don't buy 'em.

If the laces are round, don't buy 'em.

If both, sue the fucking company for being so stupid as to even think about selling those pieces of shit.

One word: FLAT. Flat laces will stay tied for all eternity and more.
