Hi hayleysamantha,
I took Roaccutane (Aust.) in the 1980's also for severe acne. I was then around 25-26 years of age and had really horrendous acne as a teenager, that then returned as an adult of 25 years old. It was so horrible it looked like the type of image you'd see in one of those medical text books, spread all over my face, neck, back and decolletage area, even had pimples on my thighs - yuck!. Anyway Roaccutane worked but it is not without side effects and serious dangers.
Side effects: all mucous merabrane dry up. Cholesterol in liver skyrockets - don't know why, but this is the blood work you elluded to. I had to have blood tests every three weeks, and I took Roaccutane for approximately 6 months, to test the liver function.
Dangers: DO NOT THINK about PREGNANCY whilst on this DRUG!!!! Known to cause serious birth defects. But do not get too hung up on this, as I, like many others, went on to have two healthy normal children, both now teenagers. arrrgggrrrrr . . . . . . lol.
Also Roaccutane has been linked to later life depression, yet my DP is more likely to be biological, due to positive family history.
Anyway, if you have any questions, please just ask. Ohh, and good luck with the treatment if you decide to proceed.
