Something with my asthma

When I have an asthma attack (not the sever ones, havent one of those in years) and I happen to be entirely out of Albuterol, which I am right now, why is it that a very cold pop that has lots of fizz or acid (Coke or Pepsi) always seems to help a little bit?

Is it that coughing so much wears a bit at my throat and the pop soothes it making me breathe easier or what?

Also, is there any thing else I can do to help me out with this? I have absolutely no money, I havent started my new job yet (and started to wonder if they are going to pull a UPS on me), an d have no insurance so I have now way of getting more drugs

I have low grade asthma and my mother had it rather severe. She discovered that drinking coffee helped ease up the breathing, so my guess is that it is the caffeine in the soda that helps open the air ways and not the fizz.

What about going to a free clinic or asking your current doctor if they have any samples of Albuterol?

Let us know how it goes!

I never thought of the caffeine, either way I still havent the slightest clue how it works lol

Well today I begged my mom if she would pay and pick up a prescription for me and she said of course, when she got there they handed it to her and said "Its paid for" and neither of us know why. Some company named Mcauley decided to pick up the bill, neither of us has even heard of them before.

I am so very glad you got your prescription paid for!

I figured out why cola, tea and coffee work. Caffeine is a stimulant. Epinephrine and adrenaline (what they shoot into you that makes you nervous if you have to go into the emergency room in respiratory distress) is also a stimulant. The caffeine is a bit milder but strong enough to work.

Again, great going on getting it paid for! Now you can literally breathe easier!
