Something That's Puzzling Me About Return Of The Jedi DVD.

there aer quite a few changes in the so called Star Wars IV - VI special editions

In IV Han doesn't shot Gredo until he has been shot at

the voice of Boba Fett is now the ozzie voice.. surely if these were clones and improved upon the ozzie voice would have been the first thing to go

in V Ian McDairmid now plays the emporer instead of the other actor who's name i can't remember

sometimes these directors need to be kept away from their own work

Why it's his story and his vision and he's said on a number of occasions the special edition is Star Wars as he would have wanted to have made it if he had the technology and money at the time... but of course didn't

well if thats the case, then every director should go back and do the same. Its silly logic because he used to the best of his ability, what was available at the time. Obviously effects have changed dramatically and will continue to do so, does that mean every director should go back and update their work? should Spielberg go back and replace Bruce the shark with a CGI, better one? I think what has irked so many fans is that they want the original, so in doing what he has done, Lucas has basically ignored what a majority of the people who made Star Wars as big as it is, want.

The DVD version has the 3rd revision where Gredo and Han shoot almost at the same time but Gredo misses.

Revision 1 - Han shoots first
Revision 2 - Gredo shoots first but Han moves his head and shoots Gredo.

On the episode 3 dvd if you watch the intro to the deleted yoda scene rick McCallum has a little dig at Lucas saying "When he releases a tinkered version", not a glowing review when your number 2, your loyal foot soldier thinks that you tinker too much.

George Lucas' obsession with cgi led to his down fall. Granted ep3 looks very nice but ep1 looks awfull. And re working ep4-6 was a big mistake. He should of released the original cuts on dvd and been done with it.

i must admit i find the Hoth stuff all done with models and all the matte painting backdrops from the 4-6 films far better than all the CGI stuff.. you can still tell this stuff is done on a computer and it just doesn't look as good as the old model stuff did

i don't think the prig cuts of 4-6 exist any more which is a shame plus george doesn't like them he said the special editions are what he wanted star wars to be

I read on dvdanswers that he may have gone back and redone Yoda from Phantom Menace so he looks more like the good Yoda from Eps 2 and 3. Anyone know anything about this?

Also I think the Jabba in Episode 4 could be redone every couple of years until it looks OK.

I'm sure he hasn't destroyed the original tapes for the original trilogy.

The Holiday Special however... :D

and when are we getting special editions of the Ewoks films? :)

Not in the case of Boba Fett, as he was raised as a son by Jango Fett (until the age of about 10, when Jango is killed at the end of AOTC). As such, he has his father's accent, as any child would. That's one edit that makes sense.

And the accent is Kiwi. ;)

But don't get me started on the Han/Greedo edit abomination.

Well, seen The Revenge Of The Sith last night, and have to say, Ewan Mcgregor's acting ability wasn't that good really. The one who took Anakin Skywalker was a good actor, and he far outshined Ewan by miles. It was blatantly obvious that Ewan was In script reading mode, because he just didn't seem to be relaxed at all.

Just before Anakin went to meet his wife for the first time, he was talking to Obi One Kenobi who was standing In the spacecraft, and Ewan wasn't very good with his lines here. My first thought was that he couldn't relax when speaking his lines, he was just basically totally in script mode. I think they should have gotten someone else to play his character, because he wasn't that good In my opinion.

Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here. Are you saying that Hayden "plank of Wood" Christensen's performance as Anakin was anything above risible?

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and something of a prequel apologist (except Phantom Menace - I can't justify that), and thought that Ewan did a fine job with the Alec Guinness accent and clunky script, and that Portman and Christensen were just awful.

ha haa hahahahahahahahaha... rofl

:D

Wooden chairs have more life than Hayden in those movies. At least Ewan has the excuse that he's having to fake an Alec Guiness accent.
