Something That's Puzzling Me About Return Of The Jedi DVD.

I was watching Return Of The Jedi the other night, and noticed that at the end, it showed Obi One Kenobi, Yoda and another character, which appeared to be Anakin Skywalker. When freezing the dvd, i noticed that he looked very much like the lad who takes the student in the Phantom Menace.

I'm just wondering whether they have placed him on the dvd, or whether he is on the original film from way back. He really does look very much like him, almost his double infact. Surely they can't have done this though, as this would have seemed unatural, and might have spoilt the film a bit. I was just puzzled that's all really.

Tut, honestly, what the hell did they do that for. Well i have an idea, but that's just stupid. It seems like they wanted to maybe make revenge of the sith the part that was telling the story before Darth Vader because who he was. I had hoped the dvRAB would have held everything that was on the originals, but obviously they don't.

I'll bet for people with good eyes, they'll notice exactly the same thing, and there might be quite a few not happy with this. I really would have liked to have seen what the original lad looked like. They might as well have changed the space ships when they were at it, oh, and they could have made Darth Vaders helmet look more 21 century as well

I guess he (i.e Mr Lucas) was trying to tie it all together, but just seems silly to me.

BTW - also when Luke takes Vader's helmet off, they've airbrushed out the actors eyebrows to make it seem like he lost them in the lava. How picky can you get?! They should have spent the effort making the Rancor monster look less like a puppet (if indeed they should have bothered at all).

Still going to get my DVD tomorrow though :p

I thought the Rancor looked a lot better in the DVD, the matte lines were hardly there.

They also added Naboo into the end sequence.

I still think one day the original originals will be released. He always says hes not going to, but one day I think he probably will and make a ton of cash from them.

It would be nice to have the original on dvd, and just the original as well. Once you start tampering with this that and the other, it eventually becomes spoilt, and doesn't quite have that old appeal to it. I might just have to get the original off ebay and place that on dvd.

According to George Lucas, he doesn't intend making anymore Starwars movies, unless he hanRAB the rights over to someone else. I'm not sure whether they will have the same magic as before though. There isn't many good actors in Hollywood now really, apart from Tom Cruise, but that's about it.

I think the actors now are far too overpaid for their acting ability, so whether they would do Starwars the justice it deserves, remains to be seen.

I received my RotS DVD on Saturday having pre-orederd it with Play.com!! Picture and sound are superb!

Anyway, the reason why young Anakin appears at the end of Return of the Jedi is because when Anakin turned to the dark side he, as a Jedi, "died". Thus, when Luke redeemed him it was the young Anakin that appeared as a Jedi spirit.

And it helps to book end the entire saga. I didn't like the idea when I heard about it, but keep the entire 6 movie story in mind and it works very well.

It won't contain any major characters we are used to. Rumours abound that Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and a young Boba Fett and severel other minor characters will feature in the TV series.

But when he was redeemed, wasn't the old Anakin briefly a Jedi again before he died? I would have thought as soon as he chucked the Emperor down the chute he was a goody again.

I don't mind Lucas tinkering around too much, as long as what he's doing is adding to the overall story line.

What they should really do next to clean things up is to airbrush out bloody Jar Jar Binks altogether and replace him with something that doesn't make me want to:

a) Repeatedly thump my TV screen until it breaks

or

b) Break down in tears, crying "Why? Why? Why have you destroyed my favourite childhood movie franchise by inserting a character from a Looney Tunes cartoon?"

From what i heard a few years ago was that Lucas had had the original tapes destroyed so they couldnt release the original versions again!! only the new revamped versions are supposed to still exist!

Obi Wan (Ewan McGregor) takes a student in the Phantom Menace but he is already in the end bit as played by Alec Guinness. The new inserted character is Anakin (Hayden Christensen) who replaced the old Anakin (Sebastian Shaw).

I wish that it could be based on the Knights of the Old Replublic games and the story of Revan. I think that would make an excellent tv series. HK-47 is one of the best characters in the entire Star Wars universe :D

Well this Is just absolute madness, what the hell Is the man flaming well playing at  Anyway, there's bound to be some tapes from the eighties on ebay, so the chances are will be that I'll be able to get an original from there. If Lucas has done this, then I seriously think he's lost the flaming plot. He's just burned what is probably worth god knows how much, madness, absolutely madness.
