Is the Blvd a new model or was it renamed?? Volusa?

what's the brief (cliff notes version) history of this bike? I want to know so I know what I'm looking at/for parts for my bike, I'd like to know what will "generally" fit and what won't...

Thanks!!

The skinny, chopperesque models that replace the Intruder 1400 and 800 and the Savage, are designated by S prefixes. The classic, wide style bikes that replace the Intruder 1500LC and the Volusia are C models, and the bikes moving into the slots occupied by the Marauders get M designations. The bike that replaces the Savage is the S40. The Boulevard counterpart for the Intruder 800 is the S50. Replacing the Volusia 800 is the Boulevard C50. In place of the Intruder 1400 is the S83, and the Intruder 1500's slot is filled by the C90. The Kawasaki-built Marauder 1600 gets elbowed aside by the Kawasaki-built Boulevard M95.

One of the Boulevard series motorcycles is new, however. The Boulevard M50, which fits in the slot formerly occupied by the Marauder 800, not only looks different than that bike but is vastly changed, although it retains the same street-rod style and performance attitude. The new M50 boasts features like shaft drive, EFI, a hidden single-damper rear suspension, blacked-out wheels, and completely fresh lines. The M50 manages to look fresher and racier than its big brother, the M95. It will go into production at the end of 2004, and should hit showrooms in late winter or early spring 2005.

that's it....gracias

Suzuki uses "Boulevard" in all their bike names..... The Boulevard C50 replaced the Volusia.

The VL800 (model number) was called a Volusia from 01-04 then Suzuki renamed it Boulevard C50 for 05+

They added floorboards, heel toe shifter, and fuel injection. They lost about 1/2 gallon of fuel capacity, and the gas gauge ('07s now have a gauge). They changed the headlight, badges, and maybe a few other small things. But basically they the Boulevard C50 and Volusia are the same bike. Same frame, engine, wheels (except for the C50C), drivetrain, plastics (the tanks are metal and different).

And If you buy a 06 M50 the book that comes with it says VL800 .. so that tells ya they still had VL800 books and didn't want to print new ones cuz they are almost the same.

just wanted to add to the confusion

When I got my 2005 C90 (used), it came with no Owner's Manual... I went to the closest bike shop, which sells Hondas, Suzukis, Kawas, Yamaha, whatever. I ordered the OM for which I had to wait 2 weeks, and received a manual for the VL1500 (2002). I guess either the guy didnt speak English, or that was all that Suzuki was sending out for 2005's ;o)
Oh well, other than FI, it seems to work!

I have the same bike, 2005 c90, and ordered my service manual from Suzuki dealer
and got the same manual vl 1500. It is correct, it just has additions in the back for boulevard . I work on my own bike and it all matches.

C model = couch potato speed
M model = muscle looks - looks fast but isn't
S model = speediest and sleekest model
:)

Veloziraptor got it mostly right, but you forgot the S83 is the old VS1400 Intruder.
