Yes, what your describing is illegal, and firstly I would contact all major credit card companies just to see if there has been any charges on the card that you did not make, if so cancel the card, in addition I would notify all credit bureaus of identity theft. I would also notify your local police department or a state or even government enforcement agency, give them as much detail to the crime. Many people think that identity theft is not a reportable scam and their alone but quite frankly that's not true.
 
...this illegal? I know a woman who pretended to be me over the phone. She called Rogers and cancelled my cell phone. All she needed to know was my date of birth and mailing address. It was confirmed from the recordings that it was her. A couple months ago she was emailing people pretending to be me. I was wondering if this is considered illegal? Could it be identity theft? Is there any action I can take against her? I want to stop this now before she does more.

Yes, it's identity theft and you should contact the police. My cell phone company requires a social security # before they'll make any changes to my cell phone plan over the phone. If she's got that, you could be in serious trouble. Good luck....
