I don't know the mileage or the year of it, but I do know it needs an alternator and had the engine rebuilt. Is it worth having or am I better off not wasting my money on the repairs and insurance (I'm a 21 yr old male, with a spotty driving record, insurance sucks for me). I know it is a FREE car but I was wondering if it would be worth it, I know nothing about Toyota Tercels...

It's well worth having. They get great gas mileage, so financially it'll just keep on paying you. However, it needs a person who can fix it. If you pay people to fix your car, then you can't really handle it.

If you are getting it for free you might at least check into the price for the parts to fix it. H**l you can't go wrong if it is only the alternator.

Free is better than a poke in the eye.
Make sure it has a title!!!
It's the seller responsibility to get the car smogged. If it can't pass smog, then it will never be street legal. Then it's just good for parts.
Any car older than 1976 in CA doesn't need to be smogged.

Take it! --- Fix it and use it.... So what if it drops dead in a year or two? .... You really aren't out anything.... Remember = the car has a basic transportation value....

I was given a 1993 Ranger pick-up truck in crappy looking shape but ran good... 4 New shocks, a new gas tank strap got me on my way --- I used it for 18 months before the transmission gave up... I spent $250 in repairs to get it on the road... So you tell me - Did I get my moneys worth?....

If the repairs will be cheap then fix it, use it, don't abuse it and if it breaks next winter what are you really out? - Not much!
