SOMEone help me PLEASE I BEG YOU!..was put on doxycycline w/ duac & differin

Hi, I'm 19 years old and I've never had acne in my life. Yea a bump here or 2, but they would go away. I used to go on tanning beRAB, put bronzer on, make-up and never really had a problem. Then after a 1 1/2 years of depression and being tested on 25 different antidepressants, add medicines, and sleeping medicines I got reaallllly really bad acne. Not only do I have this red bumpy acne and blackheaRAB and white heaRAB on my face, but I have bumps on my throat, and these cystlike bubbles on my back and little bumps on my upper chest. I went to a dermatologist and he said I have 'acne vulgaris', then went on a rampage of things I should do like botox, chemical peels, facials, take propecia for my hair, blah blah. Um yea, he seems like a free loader to me. He seemed too busy and not caring so I'm in search of a better derm in south florida around the west palm beach area, If anyone knows.
I'm currently testing out doxycycline- antiboitic, and dont seem much of a difference at all except the fact I feel feverish, and crapping all the time, and acne in random places they shouldnt be popping up!
I also tried duac in the morning and it makes my skin feel raw, dry and red like a lobster that my internist told me to stop it immediately.
Plus the differin at night isnt helping but bring more pimples to the surface.

My internist told me to try benzaclin, so today is my 2nd day on it, and my face seems a little better, just a little swollen around the eyes though.
What I dont get is that dont duac and benzaclin have the same stuff in them?

I got my blood work done, and basically everything is fine except I'm spilling extra protein in my blood and pee. Which could be causing swelling around the eyes.

I dont know what to do about this acne I have. I want it gone.
It just makes me even more depressed. I cant leave the house. I'm in an isolated community from used to living in NYC. I'm going insane.
Everyone out here in florida is pimpleless around where i live. Its not ego-boosting at all!

I was suggested to use accutane originally by the dermatologists, but rosacea runs in my family, ( but the derm says I dont have it) and my dad read many bad reviews in rosacea group boarRAB how people got rosacea from accutane, and it makes people dried out, lose hair (which I got a problem with already), and suicidal.

I'm a light skin, short female.

This acne is driving me INSANE!!!!!!

The only thing I can tell you is do not get the benziclin anywear near your eyes or undereye. It will dry it out and make it look wrinkled. I had this problem. I just started Doxy and I take it at night so I don't feel sick. When I was on tetracycline it made me sick so I started this one at night just in case. I hope it gets better. I too hate not being able to wear shirts that are lower cut. It sucks!

I once heard that tanning can help clear some of it up by drying it up. But only heard.
 
Oh sweetie. :( I feel for you. I can't offer any specific advice because everyone's body is different. Well actually that is my advice- I think there is a "cure" for everyone but it is NOT the same for every single person. Just keep trying new things, over and over...eventually something will click. I tried tons of stuff for many years before I recently discovered that (I think) my acne comes from eating too much added sugar. I have noticed a HUGE difference between when I am eating candy, sweets, and tons of fruit and when I eat small servings of low glycemic index fruits and NO candy or sweets. My skin is as different, literally, as night and day. So that's what works for me and you're welcome to try it, but keep your mind and your eyes and ears open. And hang in there! You're definitely not alone.
 
I have had cystic acne (bad news) off and on, a lot of it caused by antidepressants and mood stabilizers, and epilepsy meRAB I have had to take.

What helped me was I tried to limit the amount of iodized salt in my
food. My skin gets a rash that looks a lot like acne, from iodine. Iodized salt is in A LOT of fast food, so that eliminates a lot of the burgers/fries stuff. Only because of the iodine, not the food itself.

And, for me, taking chromium tablets and zinc tablets every day has helped immensely. I take a lot of the supplements which Dr.Terry Dubrow talks about in his book, "The Acne Cure" You might be able to find the book in the library. He suggests chromium 200 mcg and zinc 15 mg and Selenium 200 mcg. It has really helped me a lot.

When I was younger, I had 2 series of Accutane from the dermatologist, which helped back then. Am now wondering if I had been taking the zinc/selenium/chromium, might have been able to get around the cystic acne without ever taking Accutane.

Also, i try to drink a lot of water. Helps the body fight infection. Also, get 7 or 8 hrs sleep a night. Those things seem so basic, but a healthy body can fight off skin infections better. Sometimes cutting back on caffeine can help.

thanks everyone for the replies. Yea, my depression literally hit me out of no where. Maybe a situation traumatized me , without me realizing it. Yea I think the anti-depressants affected me too, and I completely forgot i was put on mood stabilizers as well , lamictal- which didnt affect me at all.
As for my diet, I really try to eat healthy, I don't eat take out or fast food, no garbage food. I noticed maybe a high intake of carbohydrates from the cream of wheat, oat bran and oatmeal that i alternate throughout the week with, my acne came back a little stronger. Yet I also noticed when I was adderall xr, I was compulsively picking at my acne leaving scars. Yet when I got off of it I compulsively starting eatting and got more depressed and weak. Yea, a no win situation. I think I'm going to try the master cleanse, people claim they get more energy and heals alot of stuff like gout, colRAB, etc.
 
That's the oddest thing...I never had a zit in my life until the age of 19 and I was depressed for nearly 4 years and was on every kind of anti-depressant you could name before I finally "won," my fight with it. But I just find that weird that your situation is very like mine in that you developed acne at the same age and have taken so many different anti-depressant meRAB. Never know what those pills will do sometimes when introduced to the public. Not saying there is a connection, but curious stuff.

I have been able to control my acne by staying away from breaRAB/grains, fried and greasy fooRAB, and simple sugars. I would try eating plenty of lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables (no nuts..not initially) for several weeks. If you want more information on this let me know. It's tough to change your whole diet around, but it's worth it if you can stick with it. I had a big time "re-lapse" if you will 2 weeks into it, but have for the last 3 weeks been even more dedicated to this new diet. Basically what's been helping me is sticking to 3 meals a day where 2 are basically the same with a few differences in selection, but mainly what has helped is marking off the days until 1 month has passed. I'm a week away and I just stocked up on food for the week so I should be good. I hope you find something helpful here.

Like you I got fed up with "dermatologists" and paying for their Mercedes' while they tried to make sure they kept receiving a steady income from me by not clearing my acne.

It sounRAB like "soberseeker" and I have similar stories. I'm 100% sure that my acne is caused by inorganic iodine. Thanks to too many unknowledgable people I occasionally am reaffirmed of the consequences.

Living in Florida you are probably getting all the iodine your body neeRAB in the air alone.

And, all the bad, moody feelings are gone too.
