Someone has to find a cure for this horible disorder

LPR, acid reflux, everything. So many people suffer from it, but it seems to take a back seat to cancer, and other disorder. It doesn't get enough attention.

Toby Dog,

Welcome. I also was so glad to find this board as so many just don't understand or don't think it's that big of a deal. Well, it is. It has effected me both socially and professionally. I wish you all the luck in the world! Keep posting as maybe we can all help each other in some way.

I am right there with ya!!! Someone neeRAB to help us all out! There just has to be more solutions and ways to help us all.

I have acid reflux because I have a hiatus hernia. Originally, I thought of having surgery on the hernia but decided to treat it in other ways. You might want to try a drug called "Protonix". It's a prescription drug and what it does is it heals your insides from the wounRAB of the acid reflux. The acid reflux is burning your insides. The protonix healed all of this; I took it for a year or so. I still had acid reflux, it didn't completely go away. The Protonix made it bareable but not gone 100%. So I tried this diet, an oatmeal diet and it appears to be working great. I eat 1 cup of plain oatmeal in the morning (not the flavored oatmeal) and that had helped tremendously, about to the point to where now all I have to do is take one regular over-the-counter anti-acid per day as long as I eat the oatmeal. I have 2-3 cups of plain oatmeal a day. It's nutritous; great for digestion and the bones. It passes through your blood stream and provides valuable fibers; it also helps prevent cancers, especially intestinal cancers. Then I have about 8 egg whites a day with cheese. And some meat later on in the day to go with it. I have raisins, about 1/2 cup a day. I highly suggest this diet. It is your digestive system and your diet that is causing all of this. Just think of it as your kryptonite and use the cure. This is what works for me; and I work out 4 times a week to to get the optimum benefit of the diet. The diet and workout regulates my weight.

I totally agree. I've been at the point that LPR should be covered under disability. Mine has been that bad before and has caused numerous other problems. What is so strange to me is that it seems to be a relatively "new" disease. More so than "Acid Reflux" or "GERD", which seems everyone has now. I still think all of our digestive problems stem from our ever changing daily lives and diet along with stress. But, I haven't figured out how the normal reflux turns into LPR that seems to happen to so many. That one is much harder for me to keep under control.....Can't say it's ever always under control either. Throw in the IBS, which I think goes along with the Asthma/Allergy, SOB symptoms all rolled into one main disease. It's more frustrating for me since I show no hernia and my test don't reflect "that much acid." I guess I should be thankful that I don't experience the stomach pains and sickness that I once did for years or losing my voice for months at a time. It may not be good but it's there! I just wonder if a cure for all of this will ever be found? One pill to do away with all our symptoms instead of treating each symptom as a seperate illness therefore taking 4 or 5 meRAB a day. And I might add...none of them helping 100%.

I had no doubt 3 years ago when I started getting LPR that I would be able to get rid of it. 3 years later I still have it, taking prescription PPI (something I swore I would never do) to reduce symptoms. I have tried everything in 3 years and have been unable to eliminate it, and I can figure out anything. Though I did have a friend of mine who had it and with him it just went away like magic after 8 months. When once I was 100% I'd get rid of it, now I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of it.

Hello everyone,

I too have had LPR for years. 3 years now. I completely agree with you in that people do not take this disease seriously. I think this illness is just as awful as any other illness. Its chronic, meaning it does not go away. I have been fighting this disease for so long, and so much damage has been done to my upper throat. I eat carrots once a day and a protein shake at night, that is all I eat, everday. I am scared for my life and pray to God for a miracle. I have been everywhere, done every test, had the nissen done, and nothing has helped me. Ive tried every possible herb, remedy, diet, acupuncture, and nothing helps. I have been so sick with this disease I cant even tell u how much I am suffering. There has to be a solution, somewhere, out there. I have empathy for all of you and pray for your healing as well. I know what its like to suffer with this horrible disease.

Wormiesaber: I agree with your diet. But it's hard to stay with if you live life outside
the home. I just posted a recipe for beet soup. It is wonderful for the body.
1 can of beets, half a cup of broth, 1 cup of ice cubes. (add other veggies if you want and a dollop yoghurt maybe or sour cream after trying it plain) BLEND in blender. Fresh dill and a little white yoghurt on top makes a beautiful plate of chilled soup. SO easy on the GERD and doesn't repeat later.
Thanks for your post.
