Someone explain the problem with the N95 in the USA

I'm fairly uneducated as far as the alphabet soup of cell phone technology goes, and I've been reading many posts about something on the N95 being wrong/missing for the USA.

How will whatever is missing actually change how the phone works in the USA vs somewhere like europe?

The only thing you will lose out with be UMTS/HDSPA data usage in the US. As far as calls go you won't have a problem.

It will still be able to use data, just at a slower rate than if it were using UMTS/HSDPA. It supports EDGE as far as I know, so you will be able to use that, and GPRS of course.

Angel hasnt complained about loading times while testing his proto N95.

That's correct. Where an Edge connection is available it will have no problem utilizing it as well as gprs. People are assuming that it's somehow different than the other v3's people are running here in the states but it is no different. Like the N80, N73, E61, E70..etc.etc....they are 2100mhz 3g phones which arent compatible here in the states but all other features (other than PTT) work perfectly fine. I get close to 200k downloads through Edge in the D.C. area so running off of that is perfectly fine with me. 3G would be nice but right not 850mhz is the only deal breaker for me.

That's what I think they were asking....I think my main concern was that the N95's GPS was dependant on a connection closer to the speeds you would get from hsdpa. I assumed anything slower would make it sluggish but like I said before, I average close to 200k through EDGE right now so I doubt that's going to be the case. It may drain the battery quickly but it should be stable...I hope.

I heard you mention that before....at least it's not th data connection.. Nokia should be able to refine the satellite reciever I would hope. Of course, I had the Sirius Stilleto for a weekend as it's ability to connect without the unsightly antenna headphones was pitiful. These antennas are getting so tiny that it's no wonder they have a tough time connecting.

When it downloads the maps does it permantly store them on the M card or the phone memory?...and can you specify where you want them stored?

So basically every aspect of the phone is fully functional in the US, although it only has 200Kbps download speeds using EDGE?

I guess now the only thing I need to know is where to buy it
