Looks the Ottawa Senators first PPV ended up being a freebie for BEV subs.

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but with NHLCI being on free preview I can understand why they are ticked. The newpaper article didn't mention the freeview point. Funny becuase I noticed that the Edmonton PPV game for me (from Mb) was indeed blacked out on NHLCI.

Nonetheless I guess this will force BEV to review their blackout policies. I know with the CFL they had been pretty lax from time to time in keying in blackout info for TSN... surprised the CFL hasn't complained like the Sens.
 
As Mr. Rogers seemed to understand that it was a PPV I wonder if his subs will be upset that they had to pay $10.95 when the BEV subs didn't?

The only thing that upsets me is that I had to go to local bar and drink beer instead of my own in the comfort of my house. Well maybe I wasn't that upset....LOL ;)

Perhaps I should contact BEV CSR and see if they will refund my expenses. :D
 
If your in the SENS viewing region, your only options to see the games that are on PPV is to either pay the PPV fee ($10.95), go to your local watering hole that has agreed\paied to show it or the local theater that is showing it. If you have NHLCI, the game should have been blacked out. Which by the way, I find kind of annoying as by having NHL CI, I got to watch the game in HD on the Detroit feed (thanks to their screw up), had I opted to pay for the PPV, I would have been stuck watching an SD broadcast which apparently the A-channel puts to shame as far as quality (so I've heard). If your gonna make people pay that much money, at least have the courtesy to broadcast it in HD as well as SD. Anyone know how it was to see it in the theaters?
 
This is completely idiotic if you ask me. What is the point of NHLCI if you can not watch your home teams? Glad I no longer sub to NHLCI.

NHLCI is an out-of-market package. The whole point of it is to watch games from teams other than your home team. Sens games should normally be available to you anyway on a-channel, or one of the sports channels. This PPV thing is something new this year, and while I agree it sucks to have to pay $10 for something that was free in previous years, that was the way they intended to make the game available in the Ottawa area. Nice bonus on the first week for BEV customers though :D
 
Thanks James,you understood it right. NHLCI is an out of the market package. Agents should mention it on ALL CALLS when they sell it. In certain regions since there is no locals broadcast client who also want to see their local team need to suscribe to another package, like Canuks PPV, Flames PPV, Oilers and a few games for Senators
 
Mr Landsrover BEV woudn't refund you for that inconvenience... If that team was your local team it is normal that you weren't able to see it on NHL CI and therefore no credits could applied for that reason

Sensfan the rules of the blackout are made by NHL.If you do not agree with it go to www.nhl.com and make a complain. Also on their site you will see on NHL center ice BLACK OUT may apply
