so i have a contract with alltel that is set to expire this end of the month, so... i decided to call verizon up and ask them if i can just switch over without paying any deposits or purchase a new phone which i really hate spending $$ on. the guy at verizon tells me over the phone.. yes, sure.. we can do that with no problem since verizon is now alltel too.. so i was really excited and told my wife i'm going over to verizon tomorrow morning and get our area code change and etc... BOOM!... guess what they told me now? oh... no sorry... we can't do that.. we can't even port your phone number and you will have to deposit 100-200 dollars too.. just to get service with us. i'm like WTF? you tell me one thing yesterday over the phone and now you're gonna waste my time?.. i don't know... they could either just be f***** with me or straight out lied.

anyone wants to fill me in on this one?.... cause i sure have no freakin idea as to what this verizon to alltel this is.....

one more thing... i keep hearing people posting/saying that since verizon bought alltel you can use alltel phones on verizon network...

You can go to wal mart and buy a straight talk phone (the samsung r451c) for 100.00 and purchase a 45dollar unlimited card. I switched about 8 months ago and have saved about 100 dollars per month. My verizon blackberry was $30 per month (browsing) +$20 unlimited texting + $99 per month unlimited talking. Now I pay $45 permonth for all the above and don't have to fight with verizon about unexplained charges on my bill. And the service is just as good as I had with verizon for 10 years.

Like I said in the previous post I was a verizon user for 10 years, They have hands down the best srevice in this area. No other cell phone will work at my house, so they had me. I have tried to find someone to replace them with no luck, then a friend of mine bought a straight talk phone, a razor was the best they had at the time. She kept raving about it said it worked off the verizon towers, so I told her to bring it to my house and we would see just how good it was. She walked around and talked on it in every room in my house. I thought, thank goodness I finally found a way to get rid of them and the rediculous bill I have to pay them every month. They do have more phones , you can check them out online. I have not regreted ny leaving verizon for one minute and it saved me a bundle.

Lue, call customer service. I've found that they are much more knowledgeable than in-store personnel and mostly, more willing and able to respond to your requests.

Have had Verizon for several years and CSR reps, for the most part, deliver much better service than their retail counterparts.
