Some of you haven't reset your clock

It's all a lie. This crap about farmers, saving power, etc.

DST has been extended to benefit retail sales. Retailers discovered a
long time ago ppl don't like to go out shopping after dark. If ppl
get off work and it's still light outside, still plenty of time to go
shopping and spend money. Believe it or not.

Yes, but not the political clout of bricks-and-mortar
retail is not dead yet. They may be doomed, like
print media, but they aren't dead yet.

Actually, it would make more sense to go on
China's time. Unlike every other large country,
all of China (including Taiwan) is a single time
zone. If they were divided up like other countries,
they'd be four time zones.

You must be rural, as I am. Towns without the 100 Yd Blvd and a WW
that still have small businesses and are likely to have a downtown
that rolls up early.

Large towns and cities (most of the US) have malls and box stores that
are open 9-9 every day and cover the US. Those are the companies with
the pol palm greasing power to get laws changed to their advantage and
push their consumer inducing drone into your front room via the tube.

Who else is pushing DST? That farmer rational is crap. Agriculture
doesn't look at a clock. They go by daylight, period. Save energy?
You think the power companies want you to cut back on pwr consumption?
This is a consumer society/economy. Who more benefits than those who
supply the endless useless crap to consumers? Buy, buy, buy! Consume
till you have 3 of everything. Gotta get them ppl into the stores!
If it's still light 3-4 hrs after you get off work, much more likely
to get you out of the house and spending/consuming.

Think about it.

Not all puters work off a time server. If you have a W2000 machine for
instance, IIRC you have to dowload an app, otherwise it manages itself. In
that case, it no longer resets DST on the correct dates because those dates
were changed later.

I'm sure there's a patch to fix it but given how little use I have for my
computer of that vintage I don't bother.
