Some insight on car stereos and speakers...?

I own a 98 Camaro To my knowledge the speakers are still stock *the stereo is still factory*...i already got the faceplate in mind...just wondering if anyone understands how the camaro's speakers work...it has 6 speakers 2 front 2 middle and 2 in back...but its almost like the 2 in the middle act as subs...just seeing to get some answers lol thanks
