Some GTA IV statistics that blow me away

3.5 yrs in development (much more with pre-production)

1000+ people working. (from what I know this is a lot more than any other game. mass effect was like 300-400)

110 million dollars spent (30 or so mils more than any other game)


all of the dialogue and cutscenes and just plot (close to 1000 pages), were written by only 2 people, but mostly Dan Houser (while he also wrote all of the shit for the game Bully).

oh and it's sitting at 98% on gamerankings.

Then again, there needs to be a talented brain behind all of this.

If you read Dan Houser's interviews. He decided to move away from tv shows and movies, and most of the inspiration was taken from books. Which he said helped him form a more complete character. Most of the people will be stamping characters with stereotypes a la Michael Bay.

Niko Bellic is definitely one of my favorite characters ever. If you care for the character you're controlling, that's special.
 
I hope developers take away from this that we, the gamers, want to spend $60 bucks on something that lasts more than 6-10 hours not including multi player.

R* gave us a huge single player game and awesome multi player.
