Some Good FUNi Deals At Best Buy

GTO is a lot of fun and a total steal at that price. The boxes under Tokyopop were about 80. It's more likely that Best Buy is doing this on their own since it's their stock. They want to clear shelf space for something else, or they just overordered.

Speaking of FUNimation. From reading the ANN article, it's pretty much disappointing. Because it was more of a repeat from the Anime Boston and Katsucon Industry Panels.
One Piece: 13 Episodes, Out May 27School Rurable OVA
etc...I was hoping to see the following be licensed;Romeo X JulietThe Galaxy Railways: CrossroaRAB to EternityTSUBASA CHRoNiCLE: Tokyo RevelationsPlus updates of;Ouran High School Host ClubClaymore

Boy oh boy, they're making it that much easier to make me wanna start School Rurable. Three volumes (with artbox) and I wouldn't even hit $40! Fantastic.

I kinda wish Desert Punk's first four volumes were the super low $5.99 price too, but maybe that's asking a bit much on my part.

They're not making it easier to hold out for the Basilisk boxed set, are they?

I'm still holding out, though, if anything because of shelf-space concerns.

Why only Funimation titles though? Instead of just sending back all those Geneon titles they should've had a clearance sale on those aswell or did they already try that and they still didn't sell?

They may have gotten a better offer for them from another company and decided to let them deal with selling them off or they figured that they paid too much in wholesale costs to justify dumping them off. Geneon had a very high wholesale rate.

I see your point, I can see online stores and that sort doing it. But I can't see them offering much just to have it in stock. Now that Geneon is out of play people are going to be hunting the remaining copies of shows they really wanted to get but waited too long to do so. I myself have made this error in judgement aswell I would always say I'll get that next time and look at what happened this industry is too easily disrupted so get it while you can. Starting with Samurai Champloo there's a pretty big list that I have to hunt down now.

Having visited Best Buy again today, I found another deal that was worth mentioning (though they're not from FUNi):

The Wallflower vol. 2 w/artbox is $21.99, as opposed to its usual $29.99. Strangely, vol. 2 w/o artbox is the same price! Gee, I wonder which one to get.

My guess is that FUNi's DVD's are getting price cuts because most of them already have the entire series released in a box set, so they want to get rid of the single volumes so they can have more room for the box sets. Not all Best Buys have these markdowns. The one in Midland only has about 1/2 of the markdowns mentioned. The others are at the regular prices.

I'm promised to keep you all appraised of all anime price reductions at Best Buy. The original complete series collection box sets of Burst Angel, Desert Punk, and Samurai 7 have all been reduced from $79.99 to $39.99. Enjoy.

The original? As in the tin for Desert Punk and the cool paper-feel boxset of Samurai 7?

Even if it's not, these two series are so kickass that your MUST buy these now.

The Desert Punk Complete Collection that is $39.99 is the tin, and both the Burst Angel and Samurai 7 Complete Collection sets are the sets that were released last year with the larger boxes and the guidebooks. For $39.99 each, I recommend that anyone interested in these version go out and buy them. These SKUs are deleted, due to the release of the Viridian Editions, and once they sell out, there will be no additional quantities shipped to the stores.

Additionally, I believe the Viridian Collections don't have any of the booklets or out-of-disc extras from the previous releases (just the DVRAB), so the Samurai 7 boxset is even sweeter.

And just in case you need further convincing, more gushing about S7 and Desert Punk in my reviews for TZ.

An assortment of FUNimation, ADV, Manga, and Sony titles this time.

Some prices are better than others.

Even though I'd rather get the tin that includes all the booklets, that Eva Platinum thinpack is looking really nice. As is the FMP: 2nd Raid set and the Read or Die re-release. I also need to grab the first Lupin movie pack (only have the second). Kino's Journey might also be an option.

Despite its hacked-ness, Astro Boy 2K3 for $23 is rather nice.

Wouldn't mind getting the GitS: Solid State Society tin, but its backordered.

...What the hell is Silk Stalkings do here?

Is this also in-store, or only online?

Unfortunately, the majority of the stuff on sale is stuff I already own in some form. Too bad the Kaliedo Star: New Wings thinpack isn't on sale.

That's not where you turn to when looking for good deals. It's apparent that many Toon Zone posters don't know about certain very good dedicated online resources for finding these sorts of deals. Here is a freebie.
