Some general Tmo/BB questions.

- Are texting plans (specifically, the 400/$5) shared amongst everyone in a family plan?

- What about data plans?

- So a BB won't function with a REGULAR data plan?

- What won't work on the BB with NO data plan?

- Probably been asked but: BB without Data, worth it? (I'm thinking about getting a Curve just for texting functionalities as well as its PIM, specifically the calendar/appointment manager.)

- Will TMobile ever get new curve colors? The Titanium and Gold are eh...pretty eh.

- When you buy a BB through TMo, you aren't required to buy the data plans right?

1. There are both shared and individual text plans.
2. There are only individual data plans (for blackberry anyway)
3. Blackberry will work as a phone, but for other features you need one of the following:
Feature Enabler (free) - allows SMS Chat and MMS messaging.
Email Plan ($9.99 i think) unlimited email only
BB Data Plan $19.99 Unlimited data and email

Is it worth it? Personal issue. I have two 8100's currently without data in our family plan used just as you describe for college students and they like the screen, keyboard, and calendar / phone book on the BB.

Question:Are texting plans (specifically, the 400/$5) shared amongst everyone in a family plan?

Answer:No the bucket plans are not shared amongst family plan lines. You can only get the $19.95 unlimited family text that would give all phones unlimited text.

Question:What about data plans?

Answer: Data plans are not shared either and have to be added to each individual line

Question:So a BB won't function with a REGULAR data plan?

Answer: Only availble Blackberry Plans for data are and will not function with anything else:

$19.99 for BIS(Blackberry Internet Service) = unlimited data and email
$9.99 for the email plan= limited data and unlimited email

Question:What won't work on the BB with NO data plan?

Answer: Anything that would require a data plan.
Example. Web, instant messaging, email.

Question:Probably been asked but: BB without Data, worth it? (I'm thinking about getting a Curve just for texting functionalities as well as its PIM, specifically the calendar/appointment manager.)

Answer: If thats really what you're looking for then its a great choice. The curve has excellent call quality for me. Ofcourse alot of that would depend on your carriers coverage in your area. RIM has created a great device. I've used a long line of windows mobile devices, Danger Devices, and regular phones and ultimately found happiness in my curve. It does everything " I " need from a phone/personal organisor/communication device.

The internet will work with WIFI, you will need to make sure and have the Free Plan mentioned By Gary though, with the free plan you get enough data to get the browser, and be able to get to T-Zonesm with EDGE. once you have this then browsing on WIFI will work.

maybe...it depends on where you are buying it, if you are getting it and there is a mail in rebate, then it usually is. check the fine print on the rebate.

Of course you can get just the 9.99 email. For the rebate and then cancel it after you receive the rebate. Takes about 3 weeks. But, the 19.99 unlimited plan Is worth it to me for sure. This is my 1rst BB and is the best phone I have ever owned. Just make sure there is not a newer curve coming out soon, because I just got mine Feb and now a newer Pearl is coming out w/better features.
