Solyndra fails, Evergreen Solar fails, SpectraWatt now files chap-11.. thanks Obama!!

That's what it will have to come to unless we want to become very insular and protectionist with our economy, which might not be a bad idea anymore.

The standard of living here is not sustainable as long as we allow businesses to ship all the jobs they possibly can to China and India.

are solar panels still not worth it? I've been trying to convince my parents to do solar or wind power at their cabin in NM to make it pretty self-sufficient, they already have their own water from a well on the property

Sad that solar panels haven't made that many breakthroughs in efficiency and cost reduction. It takes like what, 15-20 years for a solar panel to pay for itself even with subsidies, and after that time their performance will have degraded.

All of this money thrown at failed green energy companies, would've been better off going all out on advancing nuclear power

New Mexico would be better than Nebraska in terms of more sunlight, but isn't NM one of the windiest states in the US? Have you looked into wind turbines at all?

Suntech panels are the way to go but I have quite a few Evergreen's on my roof.

Sad to see the USA fail in such a big way. Sucks to think they (Asia producers) can buy and import our metals and others from around the world...

Manufacture them..
Slow boat them over here with the price of fuel..

and still sell them cheaper then USA panels and STILL make a profit then a domestic company

WAY TO GO USA!!!
