how many square yards of canvas will be required to make a conical tent 15ft high and 18ft in diameter, if 10 percent of the material is wasted?
okay so first off you have a cone, you wanna find the length from the tip of the cone to the edge so you can then find the length of it when you unroll the cone. and its a triangle and shit so you use pythagorean's theorem or whatever.

alright so you go like root 15 + root 9 (because thats the radius, diameter /2) which is like.. 6.87. okay. now the width of the square shit is that times the circumfrence which is like 18ft times pi which is like 56.54. so multiply that shit together and you get 388.5. BEFORE ITS WASTED. you gotta calculate the waste. so 388.5 is what you want to end up with, but you need more because 10 percent goes away. so x is the amount of shit you need, then multiply by the percent that remains which is 90.
so its like 0.9x = 388.5
and x = 431.65.
so its 431.65 pieces of shit. good luck
