Software advice please ..... Slideshow of photos.?

I want to send people a CD or DVD with a collection of photos that will load in a DVD player as a slide show, possibly with music in the background. Can anyone suggest a good program for this, either free or reasonably priced. I understand that Nero 9 can do this but its expensive. All suggestions and download advice welcome ... Cheers
