Soft gums near my wisdom teeth?

My wisdom teeth have been coming in for quite a while now (I never had them pulled or removed because I have room in my mouth for them to grow in), the top left is all the way in, the top right is just starting to peek through the gums, and the bottom two are about half way in. Now, they haven't really bothered me, unless I've been eating something chewy (like gum or candy), I just get the urge to grind down on them, like I'm teething. They've never really hurt unless I've been doing that.
Anyway, yesterday it started feeling like the gums surrounding the bottom right tooth felt really sore and swollen (I can feel my top teeth touching the gums). Sometimes it helps if I just massage it a bit with my finger, but when I went to do that, I noticed my gums were really soft in that one spot and it hurt when I put pressure on it.
I know I need to go to the dentist, but I don't have insurance at the moment. My question is if this is an emergency or not? Should I be terribly concerned or could it wait a couple weeks to a month until I get my insurance situation figured out?
