Jacob Block is the owner-manager of a small furniture manufacturing factory. He manufactures sets of dining room furniture, each one including a table, four chairs and a buffet. His designs are popular with young home-makers and the demand for his products is greater than his ability to supply. Each of his ten workers is equipped with a complete set if the necessary tools. There are highly skilled at their trade and, working individually, they construct the whole of each dining room setting, using the following procedure:
-select raw materials from the factory store room.
-transport materials to the work area.
-mark out the patterns on the raw material
-cut out the various pieces
-assemble the different pieces
-sand and polish the units

and then:

1. WHAT DISADVANTAGES DO YOU SEE IN THE WAY IN WHICH THE FACTORY IS ORGANISED.
2. how do you consider the factory may be better organised to improve efficiency?

wtf?!

Each of the skilled trades men start from scratch for each set of furniture, I would have less skilled people transport material to the skilled people. Perhaps another efficiency increase could come from having separate teams for the chairs, the tables, & the buffets. One craftsman could cut out the pieces on each team, & one could assemble the pieces. A third could sand & polish, perhaps with the help of a less skilled worker.

Description is kinda vague but assuming they all do everything I would suggest division of labor ie specialization so that they do it all in an assembly line fashion a lot faster.
