social security benifits garnishment?

i receive ssi disability payments i have 2 court ordered judgments against me for 10.000 in credit card debt currently i receive my checks in mail so i get them and cash them but on march 1st 2013 all govt checks will be electronically deposited i know that creditors cannot touch ssi payments ssi is sending brochures of place's to deposit your money my question is if i put my money in one of these acct's will it be safe from my creditor's or will they be able to get in these acct's and take my money i know they are not suppoused to be able to but what if they do it anyway i would appreciate anybody that has had this problem or is in the same boat as me or anybody that knows what's going on to tell me what they know thank you bou1459
 
If you put it in a bank account, it must be specifically marked for SSI benefits only. Once it is mingled with non benefits, it can be taken. The problem is banks will sometimes pay interest. When even 1 cent is added to the account, it is mingled.

Best thing is have it deposited into a Direct Express debit card http://www.usdirectexpress.com/edcfdtclient/index.html

You can use it anywhere, it is fully supported and recommended by both SSA and the Treasury Dept. Nobody can touch it in that account
 
You are right. Private lenders as well as the government cannot garnish SSI benefits. That is not true of regular Social Security or Social Security Disability but it is true of SSI. You are supposed to write to the collection agency or creditor and explain you are judgment proof so they would not spend money trying to collect on the debt.
