4.Finally, you are interested in studying the effects of gender and conflict on marital satisfaction. Specifically, you are curious about how the combination of gender and conflict intensity predicts the satisfaction of married couples. To conduct your research, you gather 100 couples and give them a test to determine the intensity of the conflicts they have. From those 100 couples, you choose 30 to be part of the study—10 that have low intensity conflict, 10 that have medium intensity conflict, and 10 that have high intensity conflict. You give each couple a test of marital satisfaction to determine if gender, conflict intensity, or some combination of gender and conflict intensity relate to marital satisfaction. (5 points)
a.What is (are) the Independent Variable(s)?
b.What is the Dependent Variable?
c.What kind of test would you use to test your hypothesis? Draw the research design.
d.Assume you calculated the appropriate test. What is the critical value your obtained value would need to exceed in order for your test to yield a significant result? (Hint: There will be more than one critical value and more than one obtained value in this example. Drawing a table will help you to answer this question.)
e.What specific questions can this research answer?
