Social Anxiety Medications?

What medications do you take for social anxiety?

Paxil CR has worked best for me but I have stopped taking it twice due to weight gain that cause me deep depression...

I have taken Wellbutrin XL but that worked more on depression and I had to take Clorazepam for anxiety, also after 2 years my anxiety returned.

Now I have taken a leave of absence from my job, I am on Topamax as a mood stablizer...its working great as such but in order to return to work I need to find a med that I can be on for social anxiety. My fear is of formal situations like meetings, eating in the lunchroom, using the work washrooms, work trips etcs.

Any advice from those suffering from social anxiety?
 
my anxiety is similar to yours...
I take cyrabalta it's a snri and it does not cause weight gained.. works really well for me, but it's not cheap.
talk to your doctor about it and good luck.
 
Please tell me how long you have been on cyrabalta...also have you had any sexual side effects. With paxil I didnt start gaining weight until about 3 months in :(

I am on a mood stablilizer right now and am wondering if I could function at work by taking xanax or clorazapam on a per need basis since the mood stabilazer has worked as a general calming agent.....
 
well I been on cyrabalta a little over a year... I got off it 2 months ago and came back on recently because some symptoms came back. I had no sexual side effects.
cyrabalta you would have to start 30mg for a week and then up your dose to 60mg. it takes about 2 weeks to kick in.
if you need to take tranquilizers I would recommend lorazepam it's milder and less addicting than Xanax in my opinion, but I would ask your doctor about this.
