I just recently went to the doctor for anxiety, stess and panic attacks. He gave me lexapro 10mg and the lowest dose of klonopin. I have only been on them over a week. When I take the lexapro it makes me shacky. My doc said to give it a month. But I have been reading that lexapro is more for depression. I am in the process of moving so I don't know if the stress is just getting to me but I have a hard time being around people, I feel like I have to urinate every minute even more so when I have to sit. It is torture to have to sit at a resturant with frienRAB. But as soon as I get home I am fine. And the doc has done a thyroid test, uti ,and diabetes test all negative. In the past I have ALWAYS been a social person. So will the lexapro help with the anxiety or should I ask my doc for a different kind of anti anxiety med.

Thanks

I'm on both medications. I just started yesterday, actually.

I feel awful today. Shaky like you are, to the point where I thought I was hypoglycemic (I'm diabetic) and when I tested my sugars they were actually up a bit. I'm also noticeably more tired, although I woke up early no problems (couldn't sleep any longer).

I'm going to give it a month and see what happens.

Also, lexapro is most certainly effective for anxiety (in some people, everyone's different, remeraber). That's specifically what my psychiatrist prescribed it for as I'm already on something for my depression. If you go to the lexapro website, you'll see that it's prescribed for anxiety disorders and depression and it's helped some family merabers who have anxiety disorders as well.

Try to stick out the month if you can. I'm going to attempt to do the same. I haven't used the klonopin (I'm on 0.5mgs) yet though. I'm a bit weary since ativan doesn't seem to do much for my anxiety...

I know what you mean about feeling like you have to urinate all the time. I just thought I was crazy and imagining things because as soon as I get home it's fine. And it only seems to happen when i'm in certain classes or certain locations. While it sucks in general, it's nice to know I'm not imagining things.

I think the Lexapro is a good choice, and I'm thinking of going back on it myself. It is quite tolerable and does help with anxiety (especially after 6 weeks)

Thanks, I will give it a try, and hopefully it will help. Although the klonopin seems to work so far it is really calming.

Keep trying to give lexapro a try. Its only been just over a week as you said and usually these type of meRAB take at least a few weeks to start noticing the benefits.
