idk about nevada but here and in louisiana if they see you try to avoid the stop a unit will pull you over and field test you anyway
 
Someone close to me was killed by a drunk driver, therefore fuck constitutional rights!

Here they usually have checkpoints on roads where you can't really see them coming up and when you can there is no turn off. They do it at all hours as well.

This morning there was a rare one that I saw in time to turn around (Albeit only about 10 meters from the stop) and so I did. The cop tried to flag me down as he saw me turning but I just kept going. Fuck you, I'm trying to get to work on time, not play 20 questions.
 
Public safety would be increased by identifying everyone who is in public leaving a bar with an illegal firearm while intoxicated. What is the difference?

So? I ask again, when did we start punishing people for things they MIGHT do, but haven't done?
 
so what exactly do you think they're stopping people for? checkpoints aren't set up because cops want to say hi to people.
 
Probable cause is irrelevant to a traffic stop. People stop at a checkpoint, they aren't getting arrested.
 
I think it is a retarded decision and I am opposed to sobriety checks and any other random stops of everyone. (Well, I suppose there are exceptions like checks for entering airplanes and whatever)

The justices rarely write 2 opinions for why they support or dissent on a particular ruling. Had I been a judge, and happened to agree with the ruling, I probably would have made an exception. Then people couldn't lump me in with the judge who wrote the opinion by saying that I thought the searches were "unconstitutional, but who cares, lol" if that wasn't my reasoning for supporting it.

But... whatever.
 
And sleeping in your car with the keys in your pocket. Or thrown in the back seat. Or on the street outside of the car.

I wonder if this is the only loophole?
 
Don't let my 15yo see this thread....she already thinks she has the right to drive no matter what after she gets her license
 
police should be on patrol not at checkpoints. patrols catch drunks AND they can also catch other types of crimes.
