So, you wanna be an animator...

There are so many articles about the animation industry, but it's always hard to find the really good ones, especially those that actually talk to the animators themselves.

Moving Pictures Magazine has a special feature from their current issue every couple weeks, and I was shocked to see Shrek 3 featured (usually animators aren't a special feature, you know?) So, I thought I'd share:

I thought it was really interesting that Cheung says the animators are the actors, in a way. What do you think?

If you've read another really good article, post and share!

I couldn't agree more with the statement that the animators are the actors. They create the movement, and while it could be pantomime or referenced from recorded vocal tracks, they still provide the movement. They videotape themselves and act actions out infront of mirrors.

Animators are indeed the actors.

And yet, how often is that view portrayed in the media? Sure, voice actors help give sound to the characters - and their job is truly important. But the animators are the ones who move the characters, the ones who create the visual performance.

Are there any other publications or articles out there showcasing an animator's job as it truly is?

Maybe those who did this were actors, but really fugly bad actors.
