...mean...? you might as well have taken it in JPEG? Or is the quality of the RAW image still in the converted JPEG image file?

Plus; I don't really understand what's so better about RAW images above JPEG ones; I would think that i'm able to edit RAW photos just as I can to JPEG photos can't I?

Plus; for someone without photo shop; is shooting in RAW an option if your gonna upload your images to sites like flickr? Does gimp view/convert RAW photos?

Well I do want to go pro and i'm planning on upgrading to a Pentax K-7 soon once I get a job and money (i'm 16)
