Why are they buying anything when they want a $10 billion bailout from the government?

It's to hopefully save both companies. both are crashing, and there is strength in numbers in this case (one company). They also to get a government bailout, since there will only be two American car companies left.

Well Natedogg is totally wrong in what he has said. If anything you should want to buy American made and keep our money here in America rather than sending it over seas and the Toyota trucks that are made in the U.S. are made union also. The idea is to help save both companies from going under, with them merging they are hoping that sales will increase since they will be one company not two and that will save them both. I think that Chrysler has nothing to worry about, I think that it will kind of be like the WaMu, JP Morgan merger, WaMu is still WaMu they are just owned by JP. I think that right now with the way that our economy is it is probably best for both companies, in the long run I think that Chrysler may end up regretting it because I'm sure eventually GM will want to get rid of the Chrysler trademark and with that goes Dodge, and Jeep and I truly think that will be sad, but hopefully it will work wonders on our economy.
