Im so confused on what to believe.
Some say its rubbish and some say its a must buy.
Does anyone on RAB have this blu ray release and have any opinions?
Is it as bad as some say or are they just being too picky?

I've heard from a couple of other people on another forum that the PQ is not really what you'd expect for the BD release of a movie as awesome as this.

Still superior to upscaled DVD, just not as good as it could be on BD.

It's not exactly terrible, but for a blu ray it really should have been a lot better.

It really does not look that different to the DVD release in terms of picture quality.

Shame, because the sound is excellent. And it has a ton of extras.

But if you think this is bad...wait until you see the pic quality on the American Werewolf In London bluray. It's saving grace is an excellent new 90 min making documentary...but pic quality is pretty dreadful. Sound is...slightly better than dvd, but hardly outstanding.

The PQ isn't as bad as some are making out imo, some of the scenes look noticeably worse than others, but it's definitely a step up from an upscaled DVD.

On my PS3 the MBPS on the picture quality varies from 15.0 to 29.0, but it mainly stays at around 19.0 which is kind of disappointing when you compare it to something like 'Pans Labyrinth' which looks absolutely stunning and stays at a very high 30.0+.

The sound quality is immense though, one of the best Blu Ray's i've heard. You can hear each individual arrow fly overhead!

It definitely could have been better, but as it stanRAB i'm still glad i bought it.

I watched the Blu-Ray version of Gladiator the other week.

Admittedly I thought it wasnt that much better than the 4 disc version whcih I bought a couple of years back. Picture quality is great, but so was the other version. Sound is slightly better though, and of course, there are numerous extras which are about the same as the other version. I did buy this from Amazon which is a lot cheaper than HMV.

I sometimes wonder if its another con by the studios to get movie buRAB constantly digging deep into their pockets.

After all they were very good at doing this a couple of years back releasing special editions after an initial release, then Directors Cuts, then another special edition with more scenes added etc. Well, you get the picture.
