Syaoran (not his real name as he calls himself after his father) is actually the son of clones of Syaoran and Sakura so he's basically a clone of himself. He then sacrifices his freedom for a chance to turn back time and save Sakura and then is cloned by Fei Wong Reed.
That clone is the "Syaoran" we know for the first half of so of the series.
We later find out Sakura herself for most of the series was actually a clone dispatched by Fei Wong Reed to map dimensions as they jumped around. The clone Syaoran then kills the clone Sakura and we wind up with the original Sakura's soul then taking the clone Sakura's body. During the final arcs in the series the clone Sakura and clone Syaoran are reborn into anotehr world where they meet and have a child they then raise Syaoran and send him to meet Yuko in order to continue this 'loop' they're in, but with an actual chance to break the cycle. After sending him off the 'clone parents' are somewhat returned to their youthful forms and stuck in a glass cyllinder prison thing by Fei Wong Reed. They are both killed with the 'feathers/souls' of each of them then returning to Sakura and Syaoran.
So the epilogue enRAB with Syaoran deciding to go on a journey in order to try and find a way for the soul of clone Syaoran (who is his own father) to be restored to a body, Sakura has revealed that she had a dream which has given her a vision of the future so she can not go on the journey. Apparently in order to escape from the final prison of Fei Wong Reed both Syaoran and Watanuki gave up things. Syaoran gave up being able to settle down in one place so now he's travelling endlessly. Watanuki gave up the ability to travel so now he's permanently stuck in Yuko's shop.

Man this series has been a real mind-trip with all the clone and loops and reincarnations, paternal connections... Yeesh.
Oh and the reason why the series was called Tsubasa Chronicles? Because the real name of both Syaoran (who was using his father's name) and Sakura (I forget why she had a second name, maybe it's some nod to ancient japanese nobility or something) is Tsubasa. Turns out they both have the same name.

My guess is xxxHolic is going to wrap up soon as well (it's already time-jumped into the future with Domeki in college and Watanuki still confined to Yuko's shop waiting for her to return. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Domeki go on the journey with Fei/Syaoran/Kurogane in an attempt to help Watanuki in a new manga launched by CLAMP with both xxxHolic and TRC ended and continue on this storyline through it.

Maybe now they can go back to making stories with a real point rather than stories that are nothing more than convoluted plot twists.

I agree hopefully no more super plot-twist convilutions..and mabye im just being fickle, but Tsubasa in turn kind of Ruined xxxHolic with whay happened with Yuko & Watanuki. its sad I kind of like xxxholic too. But basically making it a big-tie in with Tsubasa in the end just killed the sereis man...but who knows xxholic is still going on, mabe they;ll fix all the junk the Tsubasa crew did, (Like basically trap watanuki in Yuko's shop) & hopefully Yuko will come back at the end as well.

If not I will not only be forever confused by Tsubasa, but also hold a grudge against it for giving a Decent sereis a Horrible ending!

Yeah, but the thing is that big twist is what I've come to expect from CLAMP as far as xxxHolic goes. It changes the dynamic and senRAB the series into a darker turn without trying to mind freel the fans. Overall xxxHolic tells a much better story but what Tsubasa did was beyond character assassination . The clone thing was a big cop out and worse than when you're following something and "It's only a dream!" When Volume 16 hit I loved how the series changed but getting after Fai's flasrabroadack the series just got disturbingly convoluted. I mean CLAMP, really, after all these years of telling manga this was supposed to make us feel better that you didn't continue X, not worse. Gah!

O-chan

it wasn't a good ending but it sorta was in a few ways...

but I think the bigger thing was watanuki's choice to remain in the shop giving his freedom to move freely in order for syaoran to move freely to find a world for he and sakura to be finally free

there was some speculation concerning doumeki and the egg and the possibility that syaoran, fai, and kuro will go see doumeki and I don't see that happening. I think trc is extremely philosophical from an eastern perspective and noting that doumeki got the egg, it is his choice on what to do next (very common belief). If he wasn't supposed to do anything he wouldn't have been given the egg. Its difficult to say if that egg has any power considering the price watanuki paid to essentially exist even if it is to the memory of the few he has interacted with on a deeper level.

I know its about TRC's ending, but the ending gives xxxholic a bit more exposition and also seeing that

it was hinted the group would be a visitor of the shop

I guess the true end will be in xxxholic I suppose but it makes sense

FlyBYNite, no offense, but I do not understand a single word in your post.

The only good news is this mean the anime will finally be able to end, and end with the correct ending.
