So, there's this hurricane coming and...

I'm working through it.

I'll be at work, in a shitty ass hanger fixing airplanes that have no hope of flying for weeks. See, things work like this, if there is a problem, the people involved evacuate for safety. But my command has decided that the people that work for them have nothing to worry about, despite sending all flight capable aircraft to another state.

I'm not overly worried about this hurricane, I don't think it's going to be as bad as most others over the past few years, but for fuck sake, can we let the people that have children go someplace safe?

I live only a few minutes away from the base, but there is a bridge about half a mile long that I have to drive across. Wile it's not a bad or unsafe bridge, it is right on the water. The wind blowing across this thing on a sunny day is enough to knock semi's around, and on bad days makes my Jeep dance rather badly. I even have evidence to suggest that I (well, my jeep any way) was hit by lightning driving across it about a month ago.

I hope this turns into nothing, but I have a bad feeling about this week.

We're storing up fresh water in my Apt, filling the Jeeps up with fuel, and checking on our canned food. I'm trying to be as prepared as possible, but you never know.

You always did say your command was a piece of shit so I guess once again they prove .....

Best of luck and me and my family will be praying for you and all in Florida

Leehype, I think I'll be working during the hurricane that's coming, too.

They've said it's going to die down a bit as it goes around Cuba, but the eye's still pretty powerful.

I'll keep you updated from Miami.

Thanks for the support, hope I won't need it. It's apparently riding out over the east coast right now getting stronger before turning back my way.

Heh. If it gets to the point where I don't think waiting it out will be safe, I'm heading south.

I am so terrified of having to live through a tornado.....I'm from California, gawddamit! Everything I know about tornadoes I learned from the movie Twister. I still don't know what to do if I'm driving and there's a tornado warning.

It's okay Pierced, we in Florida have tornadoes every summer, sometimes winter, we live through it.

Anyway Fay sucked, tons and tons and tons of rain. My friends grandma got evacuated and many houses on the coast now have 3-4 feet of water in them.

But like the good roomie I am I braved the wind and rain to get alcohol! Priorities, ftw

LeeHype 1, Hurricane 0

The worst thing about that was when we ran out of beer. I guess the cable went out early in the morning, all the bridges were closed, and the power flashed a bunch of times.

The biggest thing is to know what to do before it happens. I should have evacuated but couldn't because of work. Thankfully, nothing happened.

Drive under an overpass. If no over pass is available, and you know there is a tornado, you can drive away from it in most circumstances, but laying down in a ditch will save your life.

Yes, Fay was gay. Knocked over a bunch of trees, flooded some roads, and made me run over a gator.
