So the doctor just said that I have swine flu. But just gave me a type a flu test.?

Generally speaking, for patients, the flu is the flu, and the exact type of flu virus doesn't matter. Swine flu produces the same symptoms as any other strain of flu. Stay in bed, follow your doctor's recommendations, and rest until you feel better.

If they do a rapid flu and it comes back Type A, they are just assuming that it is Swive flu as it is the prevalent flu going around right now that is Type A. You may have a mild form, or you may be in the early stages. It affects everyone differently, and there are different strains as well.

If the flu swab came back positive then you likely have influenza. If you have been ill for only a couple of days you can expect to have it last about 7 days total.
