true story. don't listen to me if you don't want. i'm just saying that passing judgement on me for beliefs that don't hurt you is pretty close-minded.

I can because I understand pyschology and first hand accounts are not tantamount to truth, especially when it comes to the supernatural. History is not a collection of oral traditions. What we accept is largly based on archeology and so on. There are plenty of historical claims we can not substanciate and therefore cannot accept as fact, and righfully so.

Would not the answer be the danger of tolerance is progressing to the point when we are expected to tolerate intolerance?

So, without reading the link, if the eu is the new roman empire and obama is part of the eu, then he may be the ultimate sleeper cell, kinda like a roman trojan horse (yes I do know that i'm mixing the greeks and romans)

Probably depends of the judge but they might. Do you think she's capable of supporting herself or your kid if left to her own devices?

it sounds to me that nobody, including you and your wife, really know what the fuck got said. seriously, when she had to call her dad to back it up you should have gotten clued in that maybe she doesn't know what the hell was said.

Hey guys we've got this old book, that says a bunch of stuff is gonna happen. Let's write a newer book, that says "all that stuff that was supposed to happen, happened!"

Brilliant!

Because their wacky beliefs could hurt everyone. Let's say for the sake of argument that Obama is the best presidential candidate by a longshot. But, because he is black, has a muslim sounding name, and is thought to be the antichrist, the christian right doesn't vote for him, and causes some othe rloser to win. Then the whole country is screwed because of their wackjob's beliefs.

"hey chuck what do you think of this Barrack Obama guy?"

"well skeeter, i dont like him one bit"

"think he could be the anti-christ?"

"maybe..."

yes, we've had many discussions on this. she tries to get her dad, preacher, friends, etc. to convert me. The conversions always fail because i know more about the bible than they do.

I see faith as a fallacy, that's why I don't see the point in it at all. It's like trying to understand why anyone would read mother goose to seek a higher understanding of the universe.

they don't. they (like most people) just vote for the person that supports their views. most democrats don't have the same views as many religious folks so they don't get the religious support.

i don't know whats so hard to understand. if the democrats don't share the same views as the religious majority, why the hell would they expect to get their votes?
